Manta Ray Research Liveaboard Expedition

Barefoot-MikumbaMikumba Diving are giving Barefoot Conservation the opportunity to offer two specifically tailored manta ray trips in Raja Ampat. This will allow guests to experience the incredible diving that the region provides as well as assisting in the collection of data that is vital in researching these gentle giants.

The trips will include a 7 day and a 10 day expedition on Mikumba's newly refurbished Ratu Laut liveaboard dive boat. The boat itself is a traditional Indonesian Phinisi sail boat, equipped with modern facilities and cabins. There is space for ten guests, ensuring great service with a personal touch as you get to know your guides and crew throughout your stay.

During your stay you will learn extensively about manta rays from our resident manta ray scientist through your dives and on board presentations. One of the main goals will be to ID mantas through their unique belly patterns in order to build up the worldwide database and track migration patterns throughout Raja Ampat and the rest of Indonesia. Discovering these migrations illustrates the large distances manta rays travel, which is essential in highlighting to governments the need for wider areas of protection.

This is a unique experience for any diver and allows you to help in the conservation of these incredible creatures.

We hope to see you on board with us soon!
